Will a mass planetary alignment destroy the world in 2040?

July 11th 2009 09:17

Over the centuries there have been many doom day stories telling the end of the earth is Nye.

But if you cast your minds back to the year 2000 the same people were saying it again, On May 5 2000 we had a rare planetary alignment we could see Mercury Venus the earth Mars Jupiter and Saturn these planets where almost in perfect alignment with the sun.

Books and articles that were written about the end of the world were making great business.

In a book called ice the ultimate disaster warned that the alignment would close mass earthquakes worldwide volcanic eruptions and unusual climate changes.
The Earth's axis would tilt sending the ice from the polar regions across the surface of the earth.

Could such a planetary alignment cause all of this to happen?
Fortunately for us this did not take place, planetary alignments occur every few decades and have continued to do so for the past 4 .5 billion years of Earth's history.

The other planets in our solar system are just too far away to have any major gravitational effect on our earth. Numerous scientific calculations were made that show that even if all the planets were to align perfectly the combined gravity would only raise the world ‘s oceans by a fraction of a millimeter .

If you take into account the total pull of the moon the sun and the earth are thousands of times larger than the effects of any planetary alignment. (There is a greater chance of being hit by an asteroid)

On 8 September 2040 another planetary alignment will occur and no doubt there will be people saying the same old things, the earth will I think the earth will have another few billion years before its final end.

But only if B.O. (B.S.) is re-elected, Someone! LOL

CarlCan, there are disaster fiends all over the place, inviting trouble and inventing calamities. Doomsday cults and alarmists keep springing up, don't they?

Carl, in most of the cases, the prediction is remind as "prediction". Some people are too paranoia about the end of the Earth. I recommended this people to chill out and live up their life more happily, than being so nervous all the time!
