Where the Moon actually Originate? Pt2

Man’s fascination with the Moon is an age old event, what I mean by this statement is that
Man’s has been acquainted with the Moon since Man first roamed the Earth, took a look at Moon and wondered what it was.

Here we are in the 21 century and we still for the most part look up at the night sky watching the Moon wax and wain. Many people take the Moon for granted and that is understandable after all it has been there for many eons. In time the Moon will no long be Earth’s companion, the Earth and the Moon will eventually part company.

The age old questions still remain where did the Moon come from?
Theories will continue to evolve we do not currently know for certain where the Moon actually originated.

The most common theory is that not long after Earth was formed, it collided with a massive object estimated to have been the size of Mars.
The moon is thought to be composed material from that collision, which may have created an additional, smaller, moon-like bodies.

A new study claims that the Moon’s far side mountainous region was sculptured by another smaller object possibly another small moon like object.
The far side of the Moon is vastly different than the side that we currently see from Earth.

The far side of the Moon has mountain ranges topping 3000m and deep craters. The far side of the moon does not resemble the side we can see from Earth. The side that we can see has smoother surface features and shallow lava-filled or as Galileo referred to them as Maria, or "seas”.

It is feasible that there may have been a smaller object much smaller than our current Moon in orbit. It is possible that over the millions of years this object was dislodged from orbit ultimately colliding with the far side of the Moon.

Who knows? at the moment it is still a theory one of many, we may in time find out one way or the other provided we ever get back to the Moon.
