What are the NASCAR lines and what do they represent?

The NASCAR lines are a series of geoglyphs picture graphs carved in the vast planes off the Nasca Desert In located in Peru .

These pictures seem to be created by the Nasca people around 200 BCE and 700 CE. The figures represent animals people and mythology resulting from the culture.

The Nascae
people were very advanced in using surveying techniques using very simple tools like wooden Stakes and string.

These drawings are very well preserved because the Nasca desert receives very little rain about 3 inches per year, these drawings took meticulous planning and undertaking.

Keeping in mind that the Nasca people do not have the luxury of airplanes to see how the drawings would look from a distance yet the perspective and construction of these drawings are very much to scale.

So why did I construct these drawings? As there is no real history left behind by the Nasca people little is known about the purpose of the drawings. There are many theories about why they were constructed and what was the purpose of these drawings.

Astrological themes were most likely used depicted by some of the drawings perhaps as religious icons of the night sky.

Some believe that these drawings are runways constructed for UFOs and spaceships as a landing beacon, a belief that I don't subscribe to. There have been many books written over the years regarding visitors from outer space most of what was written is pure science fiction with little or no evidence to support their writings.

New evidence seems to suggest that the drawings are pathways or directions markers that point to the whereabouts of water, this theory is supported by many archaeologists.

Although the notion of runways and landingites for alien spacecraft is somewhat appealing for some, it does make good science fiction writing.

The details in the Nazca Lines are amazing, CarlCan. The spider that is pictured isn't native to the area and has a particular anomaly that is unique. It's genitals are on one of it's legs! The people who drew the lines would have had a hard time traveling far enough to see one of those spiders in order to get such a good likeness of it.

I'm not saying it's a sci-fi thing, but if they had no knowledge of flight, what would be the point of creating something that could only be seen from the air? Suppose they did have flight? Perhaps the first hot air balloons? Their technology could well have been lost over the centuries...

Pshhh, they are obviously lines used in pod racing that took place on advanced hover crafts made from clay and spit.

j/k

Seriously though, I think that they are like crop circles and will avoid logical thinking for a while. We either have to think of some new radical way that they could be made (and a purpose), or actually discover the methods and reasonings before we figure it out. The alien theory isn't that good, and the water one was ok, but I distinctly remember shapes (like animals and things) being made, and although shapes occur in nature (constellations), I seriously doubt that those were ALL coincidences.

Hi S.L and Fremen,
thank you for the comments. I agree with you S.L

The Nazca lines are indeed amazing. Another reason why the images so large is perhaps the wanted "gods above" to see there handiwork or as a means of communication with heavens above.

The crop circle form Fremen idea is interesting obviously the images were created for a reason. Whether it was religious or just paying homage for their existence is still an amazing sight to see in a time.
