Comet Elenin is in deep space even in lage telescopes comet Elenin appears as a fuzzy speck.
Comets are transitory visitors they come in from the cold travelling vast distances in the process.
Comets like McNaught are rare perhaps the best looking comet of the century. The comet was seen world wide in late 2006 through to January 2007.
Comet Mc Naught was one of the brightest I have seen with the exception of Comet Ikeya-Seki, that appeared in 1965.
When I hear the word comet I still get a sense of wonder and anticipation.
A new comet is making a visit, Comet Elenin (C/2010 X1) was first seen on December 10th 2010.
Comet Elenin is currently more than 4 astronomical units (375 million miles) from the Sun.
What makes this comet exciting is that is that it will cross Earth’s orbit some time in September 2011. Comet brightness is hard to predict but it is hoped that Comet Elenin will be bright enough to be seen with the naked eye.

The comet's orbit will not be anywhere near Earth.
But we should see a bright fuzzy patch of light with a tail.

Speaking of umbrellas, CarlCan, is your area flooding? I hope you and your family are safe and undamaged by the rains.

We did have minor flooding in my area some of the roads had water running over them.
Need to watch out for the snakes......
The bulk of the floods are in North Queensland.
We did have a one in a 100 year drought that lasted 10 years.
Now we just had a one in 50 year record flood
We live in the world's biggest island and it's one of the dryest....but not this year.
