Recently the remote Australian region of Woomera the former rocket test site was the final destination of a small Japanese space probe, after a seven-year mission to asteroid 25143 Itokowa.
The 16-inch-wide (40-cm) capsule was transported to the Sagamihara research facility for further study. The team are examining tiny fragments of the asteroid these fragments are tiny dust particles. The only problem is are the dust particles form the asteroid or from the landing site in Australia.?
It will take a few more months of testing to rule out any contamination. The tiny space craft did touch down briefly on the surface of the asteroid and it is the belief that the samples returned to earth are form Itokowa.
