There’s An Elephant Living In my Fridge!

Suppose in all seriousness I were to tell you that an elephant lives in my fridge.
I would no doubt get numerous stunned looks of amazement, disbelief.
Perhaps Cmoore( that’s not my real name) has gone stark ravin’ bonkers.
You probably want to humor me by saying “how can you tell?”
I would counter with “ See ,there are footprints in the butter”
The fridge remains open there are no”footprints” in the butter my
assertion to you is not proved.
I then tell you that the fridge has a portal that leads to another dimension.
This changes how you view the assumption of there’s an elephant in my fridge.
Hey another dimension that could be possible, Well at least probable right?
True, Cmoore being a scientist ,well he is credible and probably not a loony.
They may be some substance to what his saying , but my assumption still remains unproven.
What is the difference between an elephant living in my fridge and an elephant living in another dimension?.
There is no way to disprove my initial contention no scientific experiment
is not the same as proving it as not being the truth.
Assumptions claims and assertions that cannot be tested using repeated scientific methods are meaningless.
Yet how can prove or disprove infinity , if start at the number 1 and keep counting out numbers will you eventually run out of numbers to count?.
Essentially what I am saying is for you to believe in my story that
there is an elephant in my fridge.
It comes down to believing in what I said in the absence of evidence.
Ok so you can’t prove that there is an elephant living in my fridge despite what I had previously attested to. Despite the lack of evidence you still wish to remain open –minded you don’t outwardly reject the
notion, you merely put on the back burner, even though the present body of evidence is strongly against it.
I guess what I am trying to say is no matter how important the story of the elephant living in a fridge may be, even if the story could be plausible the outcome is to question. Then the only sensible approach is to tentatively reject the story, yet still have an open- mind to any future evidence that may come to pass.
The inspiration in writing this story comes from reading the work of Dr Carl Sagan “The Dragon In My Garage”
