Astronomers have recently discovered two super massive black holes.

The two giant behemoths are located in the heart of a pair of galaxies situated several hundred million light years from Earth. These are perhaps the largest block holes discovered so far.

Each one has a mass estimated to be around 10 billion times greater than our sun.
The largest-known black hole previously discovered is a mere dwarf with a mass of 6.3 billion suns.

One of the giants is located in NGC 3842, NGC 3842 is an elliptical galaxy located in the constellation of Leo.

The elliptical galaxy is the brightest of a cluster of galaxies situated about 320 million light years from Earth.

The second super massive black hole is located in NGC 4889, the brightest galaxy in the Coma cluster. The location from Earth is a little greater 335 million light years away from Earth.

These black holes grow in tandem with their galaxies, devouring up gases, planets and stars.

Don’t let the vast distances fool you, these galaxies have devoured other galaxies in the distant past.Despite the vast distances involved some of these galaxies are truly enormous.

Black holes and galaxies share a lot in common each has a co dependant relationship with the other.

It just goes to show how vast the universe is.

Post script:

Unfortunately it is our start of the wet season and I missed the Lunar eclipse due to clouds and rain.
So I will have to wait until 2014 for the next one.

Season greetings to all.

I missed it, to, CMore, for the same reason.

It's comforting to know that black holes are far enough away we don't have to worry!

The hidden monsters of the night sky.

Just about every galaxy has at least one, even our Milky Way has one.

Fortunately were are safe from these monsters for next 250 million years.
