The Great Solar Energy Farce

Solar energy is it all that its cracked up to be?. There are a lot of people who would argue that
installing solar panels on one’s home is not a bad thing. Most would agree It is a good way to conserve the world energy resources and save on energy costs.
While some of the world’s politicians are spooking about climate change and putting a tax on carbon usage, are we really getting the full story?
Australia for example will put a carbon tax on the highest industry polluters, coal fired electricity production will be a prime target( Al Gore would be in heaven with this tax).
Our government will offset the cost to consumers for the increase in the cost of goods and services this tax will create. Keeping in mind Australia is only a minor player in green gas generation, but we will have the world’s highest carbon tax.The cost of electricity in this country is already sky high.
If by some miracle all the people in the world stopped using coal or petro chemicals it would take 60 years to lower the global temperature by 2 degrees!!, but I am getting off the main topic.
I am a pro energy supporter, putting solar panels on homes is not the answer. We need to find ways to use our energy more effectively.
Sure we may get a government subsidy to install Solar panels on our homes and this will work for the short term.
But what happens to all our Solar panel investment when the government takes away the subsidy and the power companies will only give you a pittance for your energy contribution.
When the subsidies are gone you will still have to come up with the extra money to cover the payments.
In my opinion the only way to save the cost of energy using the Solar Panel installations is to have an adequate storage facility using a battery /inverter system.
whereby you can store the Suns energy and convert it into electrical energy using an inverter. ( after all Solar Panels will not work at night) for all intense and purposes you would off the energy grid yet you would still be able to use it if required.
While having Solar panels will work fine in the short term users may have to invest in batteries to keep the rising cost of using the energy grid.
If you are contemplating installing solar panels then I would suggest you consider making an investment in using a battery storage unit.
The initial cost may be higher at first but you will recoup the costs involved over time.
Your household will have a a lower carbon footprint and the bank balance will look a lot better too.
Well that’s my 2 cents worth.

The Political Brief
That being said, solar and wind are nor necessarily bad ideas, on a very small scale. I could use wind generated power, but solar would be a waste of time and money for me. Using batteries to store whatever energy is produced is the only way to go.
There's an old well in one of my pastures and I'd like to be able to pump the water wind a windmill. Maybe I'll find a way to make it happen one of these days.
Around here, we have power failures that can last for days (or even longer although it's rare). So I invested in a generator to make sure the lights and freezer will keep working, no matter what. Storing gas is going to present a few problems, though...

Not sure where Australia’s Carbon tax will lead us. It is due to be introduced this Wednesday.
Alternative energy is a tricky proposition but it can work well if proper planning is adopted.
Storing Solar Power in storage batteries make a lot of sense and be cost effective in the long term especially with new advances in Battery technology.
New technology in cleaning up the coal greenhouse gasses is available, perhaps a little costly at present.
The carbon expelled by using coal fired generators can be sequestrated and stored.
Stored deep underground away from natural underground water. The trapped carbon will be eventually absorbed by the Earth.
