Although dust storms are fairly common in Australia. The Australian continent is the driest and hottest single landmass in the world.
Around 16 mega tones of dust was deposited throughout the eastern states of Australia covering most of the towns and cities on the East Coast. Most of the sky appeared orange in color and visibility was greatly restricted.
The storm began his journey from South Australia and moving in a north easterly direction. The Dust storm could be seen from space. The sky had an eerie appearance making breathing difficult. Everything was covered in a layer of fine dust.
