The annual Leonid meteor shower of 2010 will peak this week, the best time to see the meteorite light show is now.
The meteor shower will appear to emanate form the constellation of Leo the Lion.
The meteor shower will be visible in both hemispheres look towards the East just above the horizon. The best time to
see them is pre dawn for us here down under it’s around 3:00 A.M.
For viewers in the Northern hemisphere the best times are in the last two or three hours before sunrise, when the moon has set.
The annual Leonids should be at their best Thursday evening. If you are fortunate to have clear skies expect to see between 15 and 20 meteors per hour.
Unfortunately for me here in “sunny” Queensland the skies are cloudy.
Just my luck I miss out again.
