Strange object found on Mars?

There have been numerous objects found on the surface of Mars most can be attributed to decent balloons parachutes, debris from impacted space probes.

Images taken by the spacecraft Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter show an object of unusual appearance. The image taken form high orbit over Mars shows what looks like an unusual mountain formation.

Unusual mountain structure

The possible result caused by weathering (erosion) the shape of the object is a bit unusual could have resulted from the natural formation of the Martian surface.

Some suggest that the formation is an ancient pyramid similar structure of Cydonia.
The controversial ‘face like’ image taken by the Viking Orbiter sent to Mars in 1976. The “face like image was later dismissed as an anomaly caused by light refraction and high contrast shadows.

Some images show what look like odd shapes lodged on the Martian surface these are more likely to be early failed Russian space probes that crashed and broke up on impact.

The Russian Mars probes especially the early missions were mostly failures.
Debris form space craft can be seen on the Martian surface. The Martian rover can be seen clearly in this image (see image below) with the most of the parachute laying on the surface. I have placed a red indicator on a piece of debris seen in the distance with another close up image of the object in the close up is part of the Martian rover decent balloon.

Great pictures, CarlCan! Mars is something of a catch-all for space junk, isn't it? But it's a bigger place to dream and wonder (not to mention come up with sci-fi tales!)

I agree, there are still many mysteries yet to be found on Mars.

it certainly looks like a butte, what is also interesting is the smooth surface area, river like trail behind it, this must be at the polar cap area is it, or is the colour effect a result of a filter used?
