Songs Of the Planets

Energy produces sound the sound is the byproduct of electrical mechanical or chemical interactions.

For example when we clap our hands we produce sound the mechanical energy expended by our hands moves or compresses the air rapidly the result we hear a sound.

When we see the planets in the night sky we see the light energy from the Sun reflected back form the planet’s surface.

Venus is shrouded by cloud we can’t see the surface but we can see the bright reflection of sunlight reflected by the planets dense atmosphere.

Apart from light there can be electrical energy produced by a planet in Earth case the most common form we see is lightning. Radio energy is also produced by planets. Also a planet’s magnetic core can produce sound energy too low for us to hear.

Planet Jupiter is a prime example Jupiter has an immensely dense atmosphere it can produce a vast quantity of lightning the radio wave can reach earth and we can listen to them just by tuning in a short wave radio.

Here is an audio sample recorded at the University of Florida Radio Observatory called Jovian S-bursts.

Earth producers lightning, every day somewhere on Earth there are lightning storms. You can hear the distant lightning cracking sound on old AM radios.
Earth has a strong magnetic field emanating from the Earth’s Polar Regions it produces an unique sound of it own.

This sound was produced by the Earth's magnetic field.

Saturn is great provider of sounds. The Cassini spacecraft captured radio sounds of Saturn’s auroras near the poles of the planet. These auroras are similar to Earth's northern and southern lights.

The Cassini spacecraft recorded Saturn’s bow shock. The bow shock is a form of turbulence that forms in the solar wind when the supersonic solar wind encounters the magnetic field of a planet, it forms a shock wave very similar to the shock wave that forms upstream of an aircraft moving at a supersonic speed.

By the title, I almost expected a Mozart concert!
Sound is a constant, but it's unusual for people to think of the planets as having sounds of their own. Fascinating stuff, CarlCan!
