Snakes Spiders and Creepy Things

Our island continent is known mostly known for its Kangaroos and Koala “Bears”
In the past there were many reported deaths attributed to snake and bites, now with the advent of anti-venom the death rate has fallen dramatically although in rare cases death can occur in minutes.
Although these deadly creatures can be lethal they can also contribute cells that attack and kill breast cancer cells.Research is underway to use venom obtained from spiders and tarantulas
to combat cancerous cells. The Australian research team will isolate around 300 molecules in the venom obtained from Funnel Web spiders and expose them to cancer cells to see how they react.
Molecules within the venom are used in chronic pain prevention, and scorpion venom has successfully bonded to cancer cells in mice.
Venom has evolved over millions of years to perform specific functions. The venom is designed to target very specific sites within the human body. The trick is to find that some of these molecules extracted from the venom will target cancer cells.
If all goes to plan an effective weapon a treatment to attack breast cancer cells will be available to women in the next 6 years. The research will also adopt this research to target other aggressive cancers and tumour cells. Nature may offer a natural solution to breast cancer treatment in the not too distant future.

Hi S.L.
Nature has the power to heal or kill.
Artificial pharmaceuticals usually carry side effects as doe’s natural medicines.
I think nature has been around a little longer than man.
New natural compounds will be found in the future. We are just starting to scratch the surface.
