There have been numerous reported sightings of strange objects found on the Martian surface .
Most image anomalies are explainable they usually consist of expelled debris from the actual Lander this can include parachutes, equipment shrouds or material form the crash site from passed failed missions.
The Russian Mars probes especially the early missions were mostly failures.
Seeing is not necessarily believing when we deal with a three-dimensional object seen through a two-dimensional image. Yes our eyes are fallible human brains often interprets the missing information of an image so we can make some sense of what we're actually seeing.
It has been suggested that the formation of an ancient pyramid like structure the Face of Cydonia. The controversial ‘face like’ image taken by the Viking Orbiter sent to Mars in 1976. The “face like image was later dismissed as an anomaly caused by light refraction and high contrast shadows associated with the imaging software.
Take for example an image taken by the Mars Rover Spirit showing a panorama of rocks and what looks like sandy soil.
Is it a real figure of a human sitting on a rock or just an illusion?. While the suggestion of a human figure sitting on a Martian rock may although be probable the science says it is highly unlikely.
