Lunar eclipse August 28th

August 27th 2007 10:50
Just a reminder to make a date with the best lunar eclipse since 1999 the evening of Tuesday August 28 will see (weather permitting)

the bulk of the eclipse occurs in the early evening so the whole
family can watch it. You don't need any special gear to see it,
just your eyes (although binoculars or telescope will be helpful). Why not have a
lunar eclipse viewing party in your street
For the eastern states the time are approximate times.

Eastern States eclipse starts at 5:52 pm 6:51 pm moon is almost obscure 8:37 pm total obscurity 10:24 pm end of eclipse.

Central states, the Moon enters the darkest part of Earth's
shadow (the Umbra) during the late twilight. For people in WA, the
Moon rises with the eclipse underway.

Central States 5:30 pm 6:41 pm 8:20
Western Australia 3:52 pm 4:51 pm 6:37

This particular Lunar eclipse will not be seen in Europe but can be see in USA on 28th August in the early morning.

Unfortunately the clouds have obscured my view of the eclipse this is perhaps the best image I could shoot I hope people elsewhere had better luck.

Hi Tracy,
weather permitting this eclipse should be a good one to see because it doesn't happen late at night. You will see the Moon slowly getting darker and undergo a slight change in colour I Hope you enjoy it......

Hi CarlCan,

We won't get to see this one...again...in Queensland, drats, but no doubt we will all still feel it's effects...always a good time for new projects.

I can't WAIT for this - I hope we can see it from our place! I saw the last one in 99 and it was amazing.

Cheers

Hi CarlCan,

I just read the good news here in (east Coast) Oz.. we won't be seeing the full eclipse, but we will be seeing a blood moon, as the orange shadow passes across it's face... pretty spectacular anyway... ho hum... time to put the pumpkin seeds in the ground!

That still sounds great, Lilla....

I'm hoping I can see something but I'm not sure as I'm in the inner city....I could trot to the park and walk to the top of the hill but I've already done that today with my pooch so I'm not that energetic! I should've waited until 5ish but he was nagging and I gave in.....

Byee everyone,

Tracy

Hi CarlCan

I haven`t been through all my photos properly yet but this is looking like one of the better ones I managed to get. It was dodgy going with those wispy clouds that were hanging around. Beautiful nonetheless.

Your photos turned out great!
