The world’s hunger for energy is growing our dependence of fossil fuels is limited.
No doubt prices for electricity in Australia is growing and I would think that most of the western developed countries will be in the same boat.
The Carbon pricing debate will continue in this country and is a topic for a later blog.
While it is true we are using coal to power turbines to provide electricity our reliance on nuclear power has taken a blow in view of the recent tragedy in Japan.

So why are we now just starting to realise the short fall in our energy demands?.
Firstly we have had nearly two hundred years to clean up our act and design better coal fired power stations.
We humans are to blame for being so complacent we have put off issues of pollution, better design in renewable energy production these issues should have been addressed years ago.
Now we have to catch up and find better cleaner ways of producing cost effective energy.
Well folks there is no free lunch, we have “eaten” at the table of complacency for too long and it’s now time to stop the blame game.
We need to face up to the future costs and get better at producing “clean “energy,or re –think our ways of consuming the energy we produce.
Short of putting a wind sail on a push bike alternative energy will still some have an impact on our environment.
Biofuels are made at least in part from renewable sources although the environmental soundness of biofuels is still debated.
Wind power is a viable means of producing renewable energy yet wind power only contributes 2% in Australia’s over all electricity production.
Wind turbine installation will increase in the coming years as our energy needs increase.
Already we have people claiming to be getting sick from the effects
produced by the wind turbines.
Some people call this theory "wind-turbine syndrome."
Are people living near wind turbines risking health problems?.
I am sure there are noise problems ,having a giant 30 meter tower with a propeller on it is not a scene pleaser.
Whether any people are having or will have future health issues is still unknown, mostly because the medical evidence we currently have at this time is largely anecdotal.
There could well be medical issues somewhere down the track. If it not the diesel fumes and air pollution something is bound to get us in the end.
If we want new forms of energy there will always be risk involved.
