A total Lunar eclipse will take place on December 10th 2011, Only two weeks away.
What causes a Lunar eclipse? This phenomena occurs when the Earth’s shadow is cast on the Moon. The Moons appearance changes from the grey- blue light to almost blood red.
The eclipse is visible in its entirety in all states of Australia and New Zealand, including parts of Asia.

North Americans won’t miss out the eclipse commences just as the Moon is setting.
while observers in Europe and Africa will miss the early stages of the eclipse as it will be in progress as the Moon rises.
European observers and parts of Africa will miss the early stages of the eclipse as it will be in progress just as the Moon is raising in the Southern hemisphere, unfortunately South America misses this eclipse entirely.
The total eclipse of the Moon is unlike a total Solar eclipse. A total eclipse of the Moon is completely safe to observe and easy to photograph.
The Australian leg of the Lunar eclipse takes place around midnight AEDST on the 10th December 2011.
Time to dust off those binoculars and telescopes, think of it as early spring cleaning.

Hi S.L.
It is frustrating when clouds prevent you from seeing an important event.
I hope your skies clear. I think it will be the 9th of December in your neck of the woods
