New design generation of radio telescopes with greater enhanced sensitivity than the world's current existing radio telescopes.
The newly proposed telescope dubbed the Square Kilometre Array (SKA) will be one of the largest and most ambitious international science projects created to date.
This new telescope will help answer questions about the evolution of the universe and our role within it.
Australia and New Zealand have been shortlisted by the international science community as one of two potential locations for the SKA.
The SKA will be a joint venture between the Australian, New Zealand Governments, including the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO).
international participants include the USA, Canada, South Africa, India and a number of European countries.
The Australian SKA Pathfinder (ASKAP) is building a smaller telescope array that serve as a development surrogate for SKA technology as well as being a world-leading telescope in its own right.
The telescope will be designed and built by Australia's Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) in partnership with leading overseas scientists astronomers and engineers.
The SKA project will enhance and map the radio spectrum of the universe and create a much larger view of distant never before seen radio sources.
The farther back we look in time the greater our knowledge and understanding will become.

I think it was Lee trevino who once said " My mouth is worn out but my ears are brand new"
We need to listen more, the possibilities for new discoveries are huge we just need to listen.
What was that!?
