New massive Star found, this heavy weight is located within the Tarantula Nebula.

Named RMC 136a this super star is huge its estimated size is around 300 times bigger than our Sun.

It’s luminosity outshines our Sun by nearly 10 million times.
R136 is the most commonly used name given to this particular cluster of young, massive extremely hot stars, located within the Tarantula Nebula.

R136 nebula is found in the Large Magellanic Cloud, a neighboring galaxy that is 165,000 light-years away.

(Star RMC 136a was discovered in R136 Star cluster) This particular star’s surface temperatures is over 71,500 degrees Fahrenheit (39,700 degrees Celsius), which is more than seven times hotter than the sun.

If this massive star was to replace our Sun in our solar system, it would outshine our closest star by as much as the sun currently outshines the full moon, and its powerful radiation would effectively kill every living thing on Earth.

Although this is massive it has a very short life span compared to our Sun. Our Sun is estimated to be around 5.5 billion years old Star RNC 136a life span would only be around a few million years.

Because this star is massive is has an extremely high metabolic rate of decay, it`s literally burning itself to an early death.

It's an amazing universe, CarlCan. How fortunate we are to be able to glimpse little pieces of it! It seems a distant glimpse of that super star is quite enough... a closer look could be fatal!

We tend to underestimate our humble Sun.

I guess it's all a matter of perspective, CarlCan. The ancients considered the sun a god, while today we recognize that it gives life to our planet without deifying it. It's the perfect size for the job it does!
