Moon and Planets make Smiley Face

December 2nd 2008 09:27
Moon with Venus and Jupiter

Moon and Planets make Smiley Face.

Not very often you get the planets and moon to cooperate. the three brightest celestial bodies in our Solar System Jupiter being the largest planet, Venus being the closest planet to Earth and our own moon. When they do you can get some very interesting pictures along the way.

The moon and planets Venus and Jupiter were very close together on Monday 2 December 2008. Together they made a great smiley face.
I just had to get this image on film.

I saw it last night, too, CarlCan. Only from where I live, the smile was upside down!

Hi CarlCan,

Truly amazing ...I was hoping someone would post on this! Yep I saw it too, thanks to Ash who texted me to go outside to take a peek.

I think it is a sign of good things to come, you know a cosmic message : *dont worry, be happy* *lol*

But /serioulsy/, I have a question you may be able to answer and that is do you know how often does this *line up* occurs, I thought I heard someone say it was approx every 26,000 years or so, making it a precursor for the Mayan 2012 solstice with the Milky Way?

Or is it more a case of the 13,000 axis wobble which is currently completing a cycle and *going back the other way*?

Is it a totally random thing?

Would appreciate any information you have on it Carl, thanks.

Lilla ...

Hi Lilla
Great sign and good omen.

Planetary conjuctions are very common.
The next visible Venus Jupiter conjunction will be on the evening of March 13, 2012, although the two planets will appear farther apart with relation to one another in the sky.
May have a direct correlation to the Mayan calendar.

Hi S.L.

I keep forgetting that the stars appear upside down in the northern hemisphere.
The almost same event will occur on March 13, 2012,
