The early morning moonlight was for time dimmed this morning as we experienced one of the longest Lunar eclipses on record.
Getting up at 4.30 am in the middle of winter was a bit of struggle but the view was worth it. A Lunar eclipse occurs when the moon, passes through the Earth's shadow. The Moon turns an eerie, rusty red caused by the sunlight bent by Earth's atmosphere.
Unfortunately for Americans today's eclipse is not visible from North America.
The eclipse was visible in real time for Africa parts of Asia, Australian and New Zealand.
