Juno's 5 year mission to Jupiter

NASA’s latest space mission is the next instalment that will help unlock the secrets of Jupiter.

It is believed planet Jupiter is perhaps the oldest planet in our solar system. To ensure that there was the first player to form. Many missions to Jupiter have yielded much needed information about the make up and composition
of the giant planet.

Yet we know very little about Jupiter and it is a hostile environment. There have been a few missions to the planet in the first one was voyager then came a spacecraft probe Galileo.

The latest probe named Juno will conduct a deeper analysis of Jupiter’s atmosphere is temperature and is volatile composition. It will also measure the water content as well as other elements within the atmosphere.
Jupiter still contains much of its early make up this because of Jupiter’s
giant mass.

The probe will also measure the water and ammonia content and will determined if Jupiter has a solid core.

Juno will orbit planet Jupiter and altitude of 5000 km. Beneath Jupiter’s immense atmosphere the extreme pressure will push the hydrogen gas and converted it to a liquid metallic solution essentially becoming metallic hydrogen.

The hydrogen liquefied metallic hydrogen acts like a generator producing
a vast amounts of electrical energy which is believed to be the source of
the planet's intense magnetic field.

Juno will arrive at Jupiter after conducting a gravity assist Earth fly- by in 2013 finally arriving at Jupiter late 2013.

I've always been fascinated by Jupiter, CMore. It'll be interesting to find out what's behind the cloud curtain.
