Global warming fact or fiction?

July 9th 2007 10:41
Global warming fear or fact?

There has been a lot of talk about global warming in the media of late.

I know this can be a controversial issue. And like any other debate there are pros and cons and what’s wrong with having a little healthy debate.

Everybody’s entitled to their opinion; the problem is I get a little annoyed when the debate seems at times to be one sided.

My personal is that Global warming has always been an issue in the Earth’s past history the burning of fossil fuels is just helping the process along.

Some people say that global warming is contributing to the change our weather patterns others are not so sure there is an issue with global warming.

I tend to have a neutral opinion on the matter of global warming. There is a lot of political propaganda citing that global warming is a matter of great concern. Countries like Australia, China and the U.S that are slow to respond to these concerns.
Certainly these concerns are valid concerns.

I’m not saying that we shouldn’t be mindful of our environment in fact curbing our carbon emissions is good for future of the whole planet

The point I’m trying to make is that all the rhetoric and conjecture about global warming seems to be speculative and at times harboring on paranoia are we that easily lead?

There is no scientific proof one way or the other to say that global warming is actually happening. Yes there are anomalies regarding extreme weather changes all over the globe but are these changes caused by human existence? or are these changes just part of nature that have occurred in the earth’s past history.
There are other factors to be considered when examining the issue of global warming

contributing factors like the changing Earth’s orbit, the Sun’s energy output, and magnetic fluctuations affecting the Earth’s Polar Regions.

We need to stop and listen and not take every media bulletin or political agenda as the truth. The jury is not out yet.

The problem is climatology is not an exact science and requires specialists to interpret the research.

This gives scope for people with non scientific agendas to play hell.

The average person has to trust people that they know nothing about and haven't heard of. The average person expects the scientific institutions to provide an objective answer.

Then the vested interests try to tear it appart.
