Planet was discovered in 2009 GJ1214b further studied conducted over the past 3 years has reviled that GJ1214b is a veritable hot tub, a world with plenty of hot water.
If you were to venture to this planet you literary end up in hot water the surface temperature is in the vicinity of 232 degrees C.
Planet GJ1214b is not your typical rocky gas covered object. GJ1214b is almost times 3 larger than our world that just happens to have a steam bath as an atmosphere.
Planet GJ1214b orbits its host star every 38 hours at a distance of 204 million kilometres.
The initial discovery was made using Earth based telescopes. Studies conducted over the past 3 years has confirmed that the principal constituent of the planet’s make up is water.
Researchers were able to observe and measure the make up of planet GJ1214b as it crossed in front of planet’s host star.
So far this is the first planet to de discovered that has such a vast amount of water in it’s makeup.
Most planets in our Solar System have three basic planet categories.
These are rocky, like Earth; gas giants like Jupiter or Saturn; and ice giants like Uranus and Neptune. Planet GJ1214b is a bit of an oddball having a makeup of largely water and very little rock.

The planet has water as we know it, the quality is unknown I would assume it would not be the best choice for drinking.
