A chance finding 40 years ago of a meteorite which landed Australia led researchers to a major discovery to help unlock the secrets of our origin.
Discoveries like these helps us understand more about the nature of mankind and perhaps even where came from.
There have been in the past some controversy relating to the Mars rock samples. The Mars sample
Showed what appeared to be remnants of some ancient long dead bacteria.
The subsequent sample has not been substantiated as to whether it did contain any alien life form.
However NASA researches have found evidence of early DNA, fragments in meteorites.
The DNA was created in outer space, this adds some insight to the idea that life on Earth began with left over material from the universe.
Are the sample obtained from space the real deal or have they been contaminated with bacteria and other genetic material from Earth?
The meteorite found in Victoria Australia was tested with other meteorites samples found in Antarctica.
When comparisons were made with samples of “alien” genetic material it showed the Earth samples have very different compounds to those found in meteorites.
These findings have taken a long time to verify and it is worth the wait in order to get the right results.
Every little fragment of rock that hits Earth has the potential to increase our chances of finding other life forms on other parts of the Solar System and beyond.
