December Lunar Eclipse 2010

The last Lunar eclipse for 2010 is over. No matter how many eclipses you may see there still pretty exciting.
I have fortunate to have been able to see many eclipse over the years, from total Solar eclipses or be it Lunar eclipse, for me the wonder never diminished.
The best vantage point was the Northern Hemisphere. Most countries including Europe would have seen a relatively long eclipse of the Moon.
For us in the Southern Hemisphere we did manage to get a glimpse of the Lunar eclipse.
Unfortunately my location was slightly cloudy, but I did manage to get a few images.
Having access to a remote telescope helps.
.
The best views were obtained just after Moonrise, the Moon was around 85% obscured by the Earth’s shadow.
As the Moon started to rise you were able to see that the Moon was moving away from the Earth’s shadow, slowly the Moon’s surface features re appeared.
There was no orange colour visible around the Moon from my location, still seeing a partial Lunar eclipse is better than none.

The Political Brief
Yesterday morning, however, the full moon looked almost close enough to touch and it was spectacular, indeed.

Watching a full Moon never gets old. Clouds tend to be there a lot where you live, Well it is winter. Clouds certainly make star gazing frustrating.
Having access to a remote telescope is great.
If it's cloudy at my location there at least one telescope located globally that can be used.
