Can You out Run The Grim Reaper ?

death grim reaper

Can you out run old Grimsy, or will you be too slow to even know he has come for you. Can you walk faster than 5km/h ?

Joni Mitchell in the ‘ 70 Big yellow taxi a portion of the lyric says “Don't it always seem to go That you don't know what you've got
'Til it's gone”

While most of us are trying to carve out a living we tend to neglect what is important.

It s not the pursuit of happiness, or how great our cell phone is.
It is the machine within us that tends to run sometimes unattended.

A group of researchers at Concord Hospital in Sydney Australia have conducted some studies on aging and lifestyle called the Ageing in Men Project (not the Alan Parson Project).

Some of the data obtained so far suggests that If you do happen to get a glimpse of the Reaper, you may be able to out run “it” him/her or what ever.

The research team focused on men aged 70 and over for a five-year study that began between 2005 and 2007 the focus group was 1705 males in total. During the 2 year period, 266 had passed over.

The mean average walking speed of those 266 that died was about 0.88 metres per second around 3.1km/h.

The other 1439 had a walking speed of more than 5km/h, these men had essentially out run the Reaper.

The moral of this story is to walk above 5km/h it seems obvious that the Grim Reaper can't walk above 5km/h.

I just so happen to be in that age group ( lucky me) and I need to work on increasing my walking speed.
So walk faster folks and don’t shuffle, look over your shoulder if in doubt run like hell !.

Be careful when looking over your shoulder, CMore. At that speed you could trip and break your neck!

Seriously walking is very healthy at any age.I think I'll start doing more of it, too.
