Blue Moon
June 30th 2007 05:33
Once in a blue moon a term we are familiar with denoting a rare event indeed.
In astronomy terms a blue moon means that there two full moons in one month.
It happens that tonight there will be a blue moon. The moon will not change its appearance in any way.
Although there are instances that due to atmospheric disturbances the moon has appeared to have rings or a blue hue. It not often that we experience two full moons in one month. This only happens on average every two and a half years. For views in Australia the full moon will rise in the east around 4:25 pm onwards. Tonight is a good night to see a rare event.

Flashes of memories
I just had a look at the moon - it`s beautiful! I tried to take photo`s of it but they do not do it justice in any way.
I may take the telescope out later and have a closer look. It`s always good exploring it`s surface and learning new facts about it....
Thanks for the info
