Technology like Google Sky allows to view the night without even venturing outside.

Google Sky has given observers the ability to view a wide range of high quality imagery obtained by the Hubble Telescope.
There has never been a service that enabled the users to view community-created imagery, or to participate in the viewing of live events like eclipses.

Google has formed a partnership with Slooh, a New York company that

offers the public Internet-based access to a global network of telescoped in observatories located globally. Observers are now able to have acces
to high power telescopes and will allow observer to select various astronomical “missions”.
