southern hemisphere animation looking towards the west
I have taken the liberty of putting some visual animations on how the stars and planets move within the night sky.
Usually I have placed a printable star map for visual reference.Star maps are used to show where the stars planets and constellations are situated given a specific location.
The southern hemisphere animations are for January 2012 there are two animations for each hemisphere. One is seen from the west and on from the east.
Northern hemisphere animations
The southern hemisphere star and planetary motion animations are centred on the east coast of Queensland Australia the time is simulated for 6:30 pm Eastern Standard Time.
The Northern hemisphere animations are for USA location California the time is 5:20 and 7:00 pm local time.
There are two sets of simulations one is looking in a westerly direction the other is looking towards the east.
The simulations are realistic although they are representative animations of how the stars and planets move as regards to looking east and west, the stars and planets will vary depending on your location and time zone.
Northern hemisphere looking East
The animation time frame is speeded up to show actual movement. Each movie is approximately 30 seconds or - showing how far the stars and planets have moved. Each 30 second movie represents how far the stars and planets have moved in one hour.
